risky change of plan.

I'm going to change my animation...
it looks crap at the moment & I havn't got very far with it so I'm going to illustrate it and scan it in myself instead of on illustrator, arrrgh.
So I'm going to completely start again, mental.

mmm!

I would love to say that this was one of my cooking masterpieces...but sadly not.
I'm staying in Whitby for the weekend and this was what I had for my dinner tonight...AMAZING!

manchester museum.

Today I went to Manchester Museum to look at the Egyptology exhibition to gain primary research for 'The Body' project.
I was wowed by how well the mummies exhibited were preserved.
Some were from around 700 BC! I loved looking at the mummies, their tombs, all the egyptian artifacts and reading about the mummification process and why the Egyptians thought it so important to preserve certain bodies. I think my visit has really helped me gain a better understanding of Egyptian Mummies and I feel a lot more confident with my project now I've gained this knowledge.
These are a few photographs I took at the exhibition.
They're not very good quality because you weren't allowed to take photographs and the woman looked scary, wasn't getting on the wrong side of her! haha.

AMAZING!

I nearly shed a little tear watching this.
Actually TOO good...

portfolio thumbnails.

These are the thumbnails for the photography section of my website portfolio. I'm only going to do eight per section so you get the gist of what I want each page to do. These are just screen shots from Dreamweaver because they all had to be saved in .htm format. I'm going to use lightbox so when you click on each image it will enlarge in a new window...

CHARLIEEEEE! ha.

watching this video, about 8 times definitely helped me and roberta get through the stress of Fireworks deciding to hate us...=]

sorted.

Followed the tutorial on blackboard & my website is now web ready! =]

change of plan.

Now to create thumbnails for my 'Portfolio' section of my website.
I'm only going to import images for the 'Photography' section as Thomas said its presenting the idea that counts. Due to the time limit and my adventurous designing I'm going to use 'Lightbox' to display my images instead of the scrollbar at the bottom as shown in my wireframes. I think it'll look just as good!
I'm excited for the final outcome!

Sunday 18 October 2009

complete pages.

These are my final 'about' & 'contact' pages with my own text and imagery completed.

I've got these linked up now I just need to complete my portfolio section.

RUSS MILLS!

So, I thought I'd add some more inspiration...
Russ Mills is way up there with my favourite designers.
His illustrations are amazing & a constant inspiration for me.
I love his style and his use of ink & line drawing.

Thursday 15 October 2009

great idea...

I was reading through an article of what makes a successful design homepage & I came across the suggestion of customising your 'error 404' page so that people visiting your website don't just press back and go elsewhere like the majority of people do.
I found this website of '36 cool custom error 404 pages', what a great idea...

this one is my favourite...

animation.

ANIMATION! arrrgh.
motion is so hard!
I think i might have been a bit adventurous with my idea...ha, well i know i have been!
Its going to take me AGES!
Started using filters and behaviours, so far just fade in/fade out & the pen tool.
I've done the beginning now though, its not exactly as I wanted it to look but it'll do!
I'll try and improve on it this week and hopefully progress further with it!

Tuesday 13 October 2009

brainwave.

I've decided on my final idea for 'The Body' project! FINALLY!
I'm going to look at Egyptian Mummifying, I think it is a really interesting subject and I could make a really interesting book using this idea.
I might even make my own mummy! Maybe use this as my actual book so its not so conventional. Something I'll have to think about...

homepage sliced & done!

Got all my homepage linked up to each section of my website! =]
Now I need to add an image to my 'about' page and change the text from lorem ipsum to what I actually want it to say. I need to do this for the contact section too & re-link these!
I also need to get all my images ready to put into the portfolio section & get them on my pen drive for next week so that Thomas can guide me on the next step...

Sunday 11 October 2009

sketchbook progress.

I thought I'd post a few pages from my 'Body' sketchbook so far.
So far I've been looking at basic anatomy and human body parts...

more to come...

design groups.

These two design groups have been a great help to me over the past few years when trying to gain inspiration for numerous projects, there's some really good stuff!

tim walker! <3

I thought I'd start posting some of my favourite photographers and designers who constantly inspire me!

Tim Walker is my absolute favourite photographer!
His photography is stunning!
One day, hopefully, I'll be as good as him & getting my work in Vogue regularly would be, well, a little added bonus. ha.

These are some of my favourite Tim Walker photographs, the reasoning speaks for itself really.

well that was hard, they're all amazing!

homepage inspiration.

I thought I'd add some links to some webpages I found inspirational when designing my homepage.

i absolutely LOVE this website.
I wish i had the skills to make mine just like this!
One of my initial ideas was a 'turning' book idea but I think in the six week time we had given it was abit of an adventurous idea! I love the textures & the old style of the book.

This website was my main inspiration when designing my homepage.
http://www.fightoffyourdemons.com/

I love how the photograph takes up the whole screen with the text on top of it. I decided to try this with mine & I really liked the outcome (see final homepage idea)

I love the page texture on this webpage. The design is lovely too.

Finally, I really like this webpage & the contemporary feel it had to it. However, even though I like it I don't feel its very 'me', thought I'd put it up anyway!

Each word is highlighted in blue when you scroll over it.

royal victoria infirmary.

These are some drawings I did when we visited the RVI. I thought the experience was brilliant but quite surreal seeing all the preserved body parts in jars. I couldn't believe there was a preserved cyclops baby! I didn't know that was actually possible...
